What is the SKY Pontoon 8’ x 16’ and how is it different from a traditional floating dock?
The SKY Pontoon 8’ x 16’ is an aluminum floating platform designed in Quebec that combines the versatility of a recreational pontoon with the stability of a floating dock. Unlike traditional docks, it can be motorized, equipped with modular accessories, easily transported, and transformed into a true living space on the water. Its welded aluminum frame and rotomolded floats ensure exceptional durability on Quebec lakes. Compliant with Transport Canada requirements, the SKY Pontoon can be used as a boat while maximizing your dock space—without increasing your regulated square footage.
Can the SKY Pontoon 8’ x 16’ stay in the water during winter in Quebec?
Yes! The SKY Pontoon 8’ x 16’ is built to remain in the water during the winter—something rare in this product category. Its aluminum structure, foam-filled sealed floats, and four-season design allow it to withstand harsh Quebec winters. Just make sure it’s properly secured and avoid areas prone to ice jams or heavy pressure zones. No storage required, except for accessories and furniture, which should be removed if applicable.
Is the SKY Pontoon 8’ x 16’ compliant with Transport Canada requirements?
Absolutely. Each SKY Pontoon 8’ x 16’ comes with a technical sheet and a serial number compliant with Transport Canada requirements. To operate it, users simply need a Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC), easily obtained online. This certification ensures safe and fully legal use across Quebec while also helping you optimize your dock space without adding to your regulated square footage.
